Over the years Ernie has trained with many distinguished coaches and athletes. He has learned from these experiences, and now uses many of the same training techniques with his clients.

Ernie has trained with, and was coached by the legendary Dave Scott (6 time Hawaii Ironman World Champion) for several years. Over the years, he’s trained on the trails around Boulder with many local legends including Mark Plaatjes (93' World Marathon Gold Medalist), Frank Shorter (72'  Olympic Marathon Gold Medalist), and Shannon Butler (90', 91' NCAA 5k/10k Champion, 92' US National 10k Champ).

These, and other important individuals have all contributed to his understanding of what it takes to improve performance and attain maximum fitness.

"Ernie is one of those rare types who get better with age and I think that it comes from an organic drive to explore his limitations and his surroundings, whether it be on foot, rope, bike, or any other mode. I'm confident Ernie is able to transfer his passion to his trainees, given that it is practically contagious."
Adam Chase -Elite multi-sport endurance athlete

"For the past ten years I have run and climbed with Ernie Port and found him to be a terrific partner both on the track and on the other end of my rope. Ernie has an uncanny ability to create a zone of comfort while at the same time pushing you to go beyond what you deemed possible. I believe Ernie is a very supportive trainer that will encourage you to reach your fullest potential or highest heights."

Kirsten Kindt
"My climbing improved a couple of grades as a result of having climbed regularly with Ernie Port. He is a gentle soul, fun to be with, and easy going. These qualities actually make for an ideal lead climbing partner and teacher. Hanging out on vertical rock for hours on multi-pitch climbs, Ernie taught me to relax and enjoy my surroundings, and yet at the same time, he puts a natural emphasis on taking it easy and making smart decisions."

Kirsten R. Kindt -Accomplished elite distance runner, mountaineer, rock climber, and mother.
